Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Space. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. Please read them — they are short on purpose.
1. Who can use Space
You must be at least 16 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it, and you must not be barred from using the service under applicable law. If you use Space on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
2. Your account
You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping access to that sign-in account secure, and for activity that happens through your Space account. Tell us at support@spacechatapp.com if you believe someone else is using it.
3. How Space works — and what that means for you
Space is designed to forget. Cards fade after they are read, view-once cards are removed from our servers once opened, and expired content is deleted by a scheduled job.
This means we cannot restore a card once it is gone, for any reason. There is no backup, no archive and no support request that can bring back a faded card. If something matters to you, keep it — a kept card stays on your shelf.
Ephemerality is a design choice, not a security guarantee. Anyone you send a card to can photograph their screen, use another device, or remember what you wrote. Only send things you are comfortable with that person having.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you send. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit and display your content solely to operate the service — to deliver it to the people you sent it to. That licence ends when the content is deleted.
You are responsible for what you send, and you confirm you have the right to send it.
5. Rules
Do not use Space to:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, impersonate or endanger anyone, or send content that sexualises minors.
- Send unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Send spam, bulk or automated messages, or use Space for advertising.
- Break, probe, overload or reverse-engineer the service, circumvent rate limits, or access accounts that are not yours.
- Build or run automated clients, scrapers or bulk exporters against our API without written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, or remove content, where we reasonably believe it is necessary.
6. Reporting
If someone is using Space to harm you or others, contact support@spacechatapp.com. Note that because content fades, reports are most useful when made quickly. You can also leave any space at any time.
7. Price and changes to the service
Space is currently free. If we introduce paid features in future, we will make the price and terms clear before you are charged. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop offering the service — if we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
8. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Space at any time and delete your account from Profile → Danger → Delete my account; see Account deletion for what that removes. We may terminate or suspend your access if you materially breach these terms, or where required by law.
9. Disclaimers
Space is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any message will be delivered.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Space will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data — including the loss of a card that faded. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusions above — in which case they apply to you only to the extent permitted.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will update the date above and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Space after that means you accept the new terms.
12. General
These terms are the entire agreement between you and Space regarding the service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a merger or sale of assets.
13. Apple App Store
If you obtained Space from the App Store: this agreement is between you and Space, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them.
