Child Safety Standards

Our commitment

Spacechat has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). We prohibit it in every part of the service: messages, images, video, voice notes, display names, avatars, profile text, broadcasts and anything generated with SpaceAI.

Messages in Spacechat are designed to fade. That is a privacy feature, not a shield — it does not make prohibited conduct permissible, and it does not stop us acting on a report.

What is prohibited

The following are banned outright and will end an account:

• Creating, requesting, sharing, storing or linking to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any sexualised depiction of a minor — including drawn, edited or AI-generated imagery.
• Grooming: befriending or building trust with a minor for sexual purposes, or arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes.
• Sextortion: threatening to expose intimate imagery of a minor to obtain more imagery, money, or anything else.
• Trafficking or advertising a minor for sexual purposes.
• Sexualising, sexually harassing or soliciting sexual content from any person known or believed to be a minor.
• Using Spacechat to direct anyone to CSAE material or services hosted elsewhere.

Minimum age

Spacechat is not for children. You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher, to hold an account. We remove accounts we learn belong to someone under that age. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

How to report

Anyone — whether or not they use Spacechat — may report suspected CSAE to us at childsafety@spacechatapp.com. This mailbox is monitored by our child safety team and is the fastest route to a human. Where you can, include the display name of the account involved, the approximate date and time, and a description of what you saw. Please do not attach suspected CSAM — describe it instead.

Reports are prioritised above all other correspondence. We aim to acknowledge within one business day and to act on confirmed reports immediately.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the United States you can also report to the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org. In India, reports can be made to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in.

What we do about it

• We investigate every report. Reports are reviewed by a person, not only by automated tooling.
• We remove the content and terminate the account. Confirmed CSAE ends the account permanently, and we act to prevent the person returning.
• We report to the authorities.Confirmed CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and, where the law requires it, to the relevant national authority.
• We preserve what we lawfully may. On a credible report we retain the relevant records for the period the law requires, so that an investigation is not defeated by our own fading messages.
• We cooperate with law enforcement in response to valid legal process.

Complying with the law

We comply with applicable CSAE laws in the markets where Spacechat is available, including reporting obligations to NCMEC under 18 U.S.C. §2258A where they apply to us, and India’s Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act. Where an obligation in one country is stricter, we apply the stricter standard.

We update this page as the service and our obligations change. The date above always reflects the current version, and this page remains publicly readable without an account.
