Delete your account

You can delete your Space account from inside the app, in a few taps. Here is exactly what happens when you do — and what to do if you can't reach the app.

In the app

  1. 1. Open Space and go to the Profile tab.
  2. 2. Scroll to Danger and tap Delete my account.
  3. 3. Confirm in the dialog.

Deletion happens immediately. You are signed out on every device, and you cannot sign back into the same account.

What is deleted

  • Your sessions. Every access and refresh token is revoked, on all devices.
  • Your registered devices. All push tokens are removed, so Space can no longer notify you.
  • Your memberships. You are removed from every space and circle you were part of.
  • Your profile.Your email address, display name, avatar and any stored credential are scrubbed from our database — your email is replaced with an unusable placeholder and your name with “Someone”.
  • Your sign-in link. The connection to your Apple or Google identity is removed, along with the corresponding Firebase authentication record.
  • Your shelf. Cards you had kept are no longer accessible to you and are removed along with your memberships.

What happens to your conversations

Most of it was already gone. Faded and view-once cards are deleted by the service as a matter of course, well before deletion is ever requested.

Cards you sent that another person chose to keepremain on that person's shelf — a kept card belongs to the person who kept it, and we cannot remove it from their device or their shelf on your behalf. Your name no longer appears against it. If you need a specific kept card removed, ask the person who kept it, or contact us and we will do what we reasonably can.

Retention after deletion

We keep a minimal, anonymised record that the account existed — an internal identifier and a deletion timestamp — so the same account cannot be re-created or re-linked, and so we can honour legal and abuse-prevention obligations. It contains no name, email or content. Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they roll off.

If you can't use the app

If you have lost access to your device or your sign-in provider, email privacy@spacechatapp.com from the address associated with your account, with the subject Delete my account. We will verify the request and delete the account within 30 days.

Just want a break?

You don't have to delete everything. You can leave any individual space quietly from the room header, turn off notifications in your device settings, or simply sign out. All of those are reversible — deletion is not.
